Spring and Fall:
When the Fishing Is at Its Best

While fishing is productive throughout the season, spring and fall deliver the most consistent action and the biggest fish—making them our guides’ favourite times to be on the water.

Legendary Strains. Legendary Hatches.

Many of our stillwaters are home to prized Horsefly—often called “Yellow Belly”—Rainbow Trout, a strain known for its aggressive nature, strong growth, and willingness to feed on the surface. These fish thrive during large travelling sedge hatches, creating heart-pounding dry-fly fishing as trout cruise the shoals looking up and striking with authority. Powerful, beautifully marked, and eager to eat, this strain delivers the kind of surface action that stillwater anglers dream about—and remember long after the day is done.

Wild Encounters Beyond the Water

Fishing our stillwaters means immersing yourself in a truly wild landscape. It’s common to spot moose along the shoreline, black bears and grizzlies roaming nearby, bald eagles soaring overhead, and loons calling across glassy water at dawn. Each day brings something different—often when you least expect it. Bring your binoculars and camera, because the wildlife encounters here are just as unforgettable as the fishing.
